A poetic display of broken hearts and disappointment that is associated with a cheating partner. Embroiled with sarcasm, a direct display of disdain, through imageries employed in the poem. A very intense write, full of heart wrenching pain and grief.
Desires carnal to heat's bruising,
bereft of all, except you and only you.
Instead of flowers, you showered only thorns,
piercing as throbs breathing silent still.
Intense the fiery delight as fantasy passing,
lost to shallowness fragile yet so fickle.
Dark void of a chapter closing, painful,
drawn to silence drowning sorrows ingrained.
Numbness blotting out pain lost to abyss, dark,
your cheating heart casting painful demeanor,
as black clouds ominous a midst storms brewing,
killing softly the spirit strong, of a dying rose.
The opening lines pays special heed to the pain imposed from the cheater. Sadly this pain focuses around the only one person inflicting such sorrow and heartache. This is further stated by the flower and thorns analogy. The pain is metaphorical in the sense that it pierces and hurts like thorns piercing the flesh. This is poem is structured in three quatrains, each stanza of four lines each.
The writer further explains this relationship as a fantasy, so shallow, with no depth that occurs in passing. A somewhat accepting, void helpless gesture of facing the dismal reality yet to come.
The infidelity is compared to the dark clouds in the middle of a storm. “Killing softly the spirit strong”, explains the internal turmoil, lost confidence, sorrow and pain associated with any cheating partner.
