Dysfunctional behaviors comes in many forms. Slothful demeanor, not listening when being spoken to, not turning up for work when you are supposed to be duty, are only a few examples of dysfunctional habits. Most often others see this as a deficiency, treating dysfunctional people as if slightly retarded. On the other hand this may simply become a convenience for comfortable and trouble free living.
It is extremely important to be functional within any environment we choose to in. The environments can vary from work environments, the home front or our social lives. Although individuality may create for differences in people, the general outlay for any situation is fit in as comfortably as possible. One has to form a part of becoming a useful entity to any situation.
On the home front, one spouse may be doing all the chores and making all the decisions. The other half just forms a dysfunctional part of the marriage, taking no responsibility for anything at home. Some husbands are the only breadwinners at home. To compensate for providing finances, these husbands will simply provide money and offer nothing else.
In the line of friendships, some friends will go all the way to sustain a friendship. Others will simply tow the line and offer nothing else, not even some of their precious time. It becomes a relationship of convenience where any unusual setbacks will rock the friendship into pieces. One has realize the importance of being involved meaningfully in any situation.
People will differ from others in many ways. When holding a managerial position at work, one has to show specific conduct, in keeping with a managerial position. You cannot simply behave like the rest of the staff and then expect to instill control or discipline. It becomes a question of leading by example. Many situations come up when someone tells you “you are not management material”. Sometimes this is mentioned with the conviction of the “lack”, you show to the world.
Dysfunctional habits gives you little control over your own life and environment. Others have to step in to create some sense of order and control. Another example very common in society is the dependent types who cannot function on their own. If a person constantly needs someone to hold their hands and lead the way, this shows the dysfunctional capacity of these types. This becomes very annoying to other people, at times.
In general the level of independence will also indicate how aptly one functions on a relaxed and productive level. Minds are for thinking. We need to use this now and again, if not all the time. How quickly one adapts to changing situations also plays a role on how well we are able to function in any given situation.
